This episode is an invitation to slow down…
to soften…
to breathe…
and to remember that the feminine does not open through force.

She opens through relationship.

Because this path is not about becoming someone else.

It’s about remembering who you were before the world taught you to abandon yourself.

These are no ordinary times. And you, my friend, are no ordinary woman. The feminine is rising. And a new way of being human is emerging on the planet. It's time for a return to the body. Where truth lives, pleasure flows, and love leads the way. Hello, beautiful soul, and welcome to the Vital Goddess Podcast. This is a space for what I call the Venusian Revolution, a return to the body, where truth lives, pleasure flows, and love leads the way. Here we explore what it means to live as a woman who is rooted in her truth, guided by her pleasure, and led by love. And for many women, midlife becomes a powerful threshold for this journey. A moment when something deeper begins to call her forward. The path of the feminine is rooted in the temple of the body. Here we root to rise. Embodiment is the reclamation. Welcome to the Venusian Revolution. I'm your host, Diane Shepard, and I'm so glad you're here. Well, hey there, gorgeous, and welcome to the Vital Goddess Podcast. If you've been here before and you're back again, welcome back. I so appreciate you, and it's always a pleasure. And if you're brand new, just found the show, just tuning in for the very first time, well, I'm thrilled you're here, and I hope you find something here that truly supports you, something that you are looking for. I'm Diane, and I run a sacred feminine mystery school where I help women who are navigating midlife and beyond to really reclaim the sacredness of their bodies and the power of their pleasure. So today we're going to dive into how to awaken your feminine energy for real, a Venusian path to embodiment. So I have a lot to say on this topic. There's so many things I could lead with, but what I want to lead with is this. I want to start this conversation right here. You can't hack the feminine. And honestly, I know this because I tried. For years, I approached feminist work the same way I think many of us approach healing in modern culture, in the wellness industry. And at the time when I started this journey, I was working in the fitness industry as a Pilates teacher and a yoga teacher. So I was just like, just give me the technique, right? Tell me what to do. Tell me what to do with my body. I've got this and I will do it. I will perform and I will overperform. Um, let's get this done. You know, I wanted the shortcut. I wanted the hack. I wanted the formula. I wanted the practice that would finally fix the disconnection I was feeling from my sensuality, from my aliveness, from my arrows, from my feminine. And ironically, some of the very tools meant to reconnect me to my feminine sat untouched for months. For example, my jade egg literally sat in a drawer for at least two months, I believe. And I was just kind of baffled by that. Like, what is going on? How could this be different? You know, I've always rocked embodiment from um that other perspective of give me the hack, give me the, give me the system, give me the technique. And I've, you know, I'll, I'll just, I'm gonna slay it. So yeah, that didn't work. All of this um, this resistance came up for me. And I, it took me a while to to to uh get around that and get into my practice. And, you know, to this day, it's one of my favorite feminine embodiment practices and one of my favorite things to teach. But what I learned, and it took took a while to unpack this, is the feminine doesn't open through pressure or performance or self-optimization. I know it's kind of a buzzkill, honestly, right? It's like I wish I wish I could just wave a magic wand and make it a lot easier. The thing is it's a beautiful thing though, in the long run, because it opens our feminine, she opens through relationship. And it's taken me years to truly unpack what that means in my nervous system, in my body, in my life, because what we're talking about here really is lifestyle medicine. But today I want to distill what I've learned over the years as much as I can in a in a podcast episode, distill it down for you, what I've learned. And this is especially important, I believe, at midlife, because so many women arrive here exhausted from decades of pushing and performing and striving and all that pressure, right? Caregiving and disconnecting from the wisdom, overriding the wisdom of our bodies. You know, we're we're trained, we're conditioned to do that. And when midlife hits, quite often a woman starts to really question that and her body starts to scream for attention in many ways. But what I've come to understand is this that you can't force a flower to open, even if that sounds a little bit corny. Like feel into that. You can't force a rose to bloom, right? What we can do is create the conditions for it to bloom. And you're no different. Your sensuality is no different. Sure, our masculine parts of us, we can optimize, we can push, we can, you know, check the boxes. But the feminine part of us, and this is most likely the part of you that is calling out for attention if you're listening to this podcast, she starts to um call out with more clarity around midlife, usually through our complaint of what's not working, right? It feels like, gosh, the old ways aren't working anymore. And what is the more? That's the big word I hear all the time from women. I know there's more. What is the more? Let's dive into the more. And how do I find the more that I have a hunch, you know, that that it's there? What is it? You know, can you help me? And that's the feminine path, right? Not hacking yourself into a new woman, a new persona, but actually creating the conditions for the woman who's already inside of you, the goddess who's already inside of you, within you, to emerge. So this is not about transforming yourself into something new. I think the language around transformational work can be tricky with this, with the feminine. It's about transforming how you relate to yourself, it's about awakening the magic that's already there. And honestly, that's why Venus matters so much right now on the planet, but also at midlife and beyond. If you are, again, entering in or well within your third chapter as a woman. Not Venus just as astrology, but Venus as a path, a philosophy, an embodiment practice, a return. Because Venus, what she represents, Venus Aphrodite, and all the other names she goes by, goddess of love, what she teaches us is relationship, relationship with the body, relationship with our breath, relationship with beauty, our own and the beauty around us, relationship with pleasure. Underscore that one. Our relationship with our sexual energy, our arrows, our relationship with rhythm and flow, our relationship with this beautiful planet we live on, with nature, relationship with life itself. And in many ways, this work is about becoming your own best tantric lover, learning how to meet yourself, truly meet yourself with presence, the kind of presence I'm sure you're craving from a lover. I think most women in my world are. And the thing is, it's so important to understand once you start giving that to yourself, meeting yourself as your own best tantric lover, whether you want a lover or not, doesn't matter. But that's when things start to shift. You know, you start to really fill your cup, you start to really feel that felt sense inside of you of devotion, of patience, of curiosity, of reverence, of love, not trying to dominate the body, but learning how to listen to her. And again, for so many women, midlife becomes the season where this awakening starts to happen naturally. And there are some women who are really attuned and ready to really listen to that, and others, you know, not so much. But the women in my world are the ones who like, yeah, I hear that, I feel that, I'm ready. And I do want to come into this deeper relationship with myself. And I bet that inside, you know that's true. You know that is the source. And um, it is about giving ourselves permission, right? To really remember that. So at midlife, our body can get louder, symptoms can get louder, our longing, our passion can get louder. And sometimes that presents as a lot of anger of what's not working. Our desire, that's our desire stirring up. Like if you're having a lot of complaint, it's um passion, right? It's your passion stirring. And um, you know, one of my teachers said to me early on this journey, rage is passion without a place to play. And that every um, under every complaint, there's a desire. So yeah, if you get really good at honing in on the triggers of what is, you know, making you angry, for example, what's the desire beneath that, right? That's the feminine wisdom. And many women arrive at this threshold realizing like I can't keep abandoning myself. It's just not an option anymore. I can't keep, you know, making love in the way I've been. It's just not working for me anymore. Or, you know, whatever it is, fill in the blank. I cannot keep abandoning myself, basically, is a great uh way to say it. And that realization can feel really painful at first, but it's also profoundly sacred. But there can be some grief for sure, and like I said, rage, but it's profoundly sacred. It's a wake-up call from Venus herself, and it's often the beginning of your journey of remembrance, of that desire to get in relationship with you. It's the initiation into our feminine that we never received, and the initiation we didn't even know that we needed. So inside of my world, we work with a very simple but powerful framework: relationship, remembrance, reclamation. And everything begins with relationship, relationship with your breath, with your body, with your senses, right? Your sensuality, relationship with your unique beauty, your radiance, you know, light dancing in your cells, relationship with your passion, again, desire, relationship with your bliss, your ecstasy, your arrows, relationship with love, the love that you are. Because love isn't something you need to seek outside of yourself. Love is actually who you are at the core. And we can get in relationship with that. And when you do, oh my gosh, it's like, oh yeah, this is the holy grail. Let's that was my experience for sure. And it's through relationship, and this is again deeply Venusian mystery school, the remembrance begins. The body, your body starts to remember what it feels like to soften, what it feels like to receive, and receiving is everything. What it feels like to feel beauty again, to feel sensation, sensuality, pleasure again, to trust life again, to feel desire without the baggage of shame and to experience pleasure not as an indulgence, but as as a true source of nourishment. And over time, like that reclamation happens naturally. We don't have to force it, not through pressure or intensity, or even cathartic practices that you know blast your nervous system. You don't have you don't have to do any of that in the feminine. In fact, I could really stand in your way. But the way we approach it is through rhythm. And not to sound too heavy, but this work is really about spellbreaking the patriarchy. And there have been many spells cast on our bodies, on our beauty, on our worth, our sensuality, our arrows, our love. And we are unraveling generations upon generations of conditioning that taught women to disconnect from their feminine, from their spiritual power, from the wisdom of their bodies, to override our intuition, to suppress our pleasure, to deny our desire, to live in constant productivity without rhythm, to treat the body as an object or a machine. Oh my gosh. Yeah, instead of a sacred living intelligence. See, the ancients understood this. And it's something that we've largely forgotten. There were Venus temples women returned to on the regular, you know, on a on a weekly basis, spaces devoted to beauty, ritual, sensuality, embodiment, relationship with oneself, sometimes relationship with others, and again, a celebration of the sacredness of the body. Very different from spiritual paths that are rooted in more of a masculine perspective of transcending, overcoming the body, of making us, you know, pure and holy enough, and and having the divine as something outside of ourselves. You see, in the feminine, we remember that we are both fully human and fully divine, that our divinity lives within us. And this path honors the body. The body is sacred, not as an idea, not as just like a mantra, but pleasure as sacred, beauty as sacred, relationship as sacred. And honestly, that's why we need a temple. We need we need a Venus temple to do this work because modern life pulls us out of relationship with ourselves constantly. I'm sure you've experienced this, right? We need spaces that help us remember, that support us, that normalize coming into relationship with yourself in a world that is so disconnected and so arrhythmic. When we have a temple, we have access to sustainable rhythm. Again, most of the world is very arrhythmic. And we got to get our rhythm back, we got to get our groove back. And that is key. The reclamation happens over time. It takes time. We need spaciousness, we need permission to take that time. So if hacking the feminine doesn't work, what does? Well, I call this my anti-hack formula for reclaiming the feminine. It's very Venusian. Are you ready? Okay, the first piece is the weekly deep dive. And this is what we do in my world. We meet once a week during the semester in my goddess school for 90 minutes, just like a yoga class. And this is our virtual Venus temple. For Venus work, right? We explore different topics and we all always do embodiment, always, always have a component of embodiment woven into that. So you can get that direct line to the divine for yourself. That is so key. And those weekly deep dives matter a lot because that's where the pathways of remembering begin to open, right? This work really needs space and permission, and it needs that depth to again go into a space, give yourself permission to have that time and space where you can again get in relationship with yourself. And that's where the pathways begin to open. So again, every week we gather on Zoom, transform this space into a Venus temple so that you can have that deep dive experience, really taste it, right? We explore sensual breath work, sensual movement, a variety of somatic practices, nervous system nourishment, beauty ritual, pleasure practices. We even work with the jade egg practice as well. And over time, the body, your body, begins to trust again. He begins to exhale. Such a beautiful thing to witness. So without that deep dive, it's going to be really hard to feel again, right? So you need to give space and permission for the pathways to open. And the second piece is creating for yourself a real short and simple morning Venusian ritual before anybody else gets a hold of you, before you hop on and check your email or your phone or start thinking about work or anything like that. You want to carve out a little sacred space for yourself. And I'm talking, could be as little as five minutes, right? Doesn't have to be a big deal. And I offer many practices for that. If you've been following along, you've probably tasted a few of them already. But if you commit to that, get in devotion around that for yourself, just carve out, even if you already have a meditation practice that you love, you know, whatever you do in the morning, if you just tack on, say start with five minutes, right? The number five is secret to Venus. That's beautiful. Five minutes, you can do this, right? This is so important because when you start your day, the way you start your day really matters. I'm sure you know that. And you want to make it simple, something uncomplicated. And it's not something that needs to be perfect or anything. In fact, the opposite of that, right? But we want a gentle way to ease into the day and to set the tone of relationship with your body for the day, right? And one of the practices that um that I love for this is something I'll share with you in this episode. I call it Toes in the Sand. It's a short meditation. I think it's about six minutes. Um, and this will really serve you because it just brings you in to your pleasure, into your sensuality in such a simple way. And when you are in that, in that frequency, when you start your day in that vibe, it's going to make it so much easier to drop in throughout your day. So that brings me to the third piece. The third piece is what I like to call microdosing pleasure throughout your day. So again, if you have a deep dive once a week or so, and then you start your morning connecting to your inner Venus, right? The inner goddess within you, in a real simple way, it's going to be so much easier. Pathways will be open so that you can microdose your pleasure throughout your day. And this is so important because we need a pattern disrupt. Once we get on that hamster wheel, it takes a lot of energy to turn it around. You know what I mean. So once you learn some basic practices, like if again, if you've been listening, the swoon breath, like just breathing in pleasure, breathing in the scent, just taking a moment, just feeling the sun on your skin. I know that sounds so frivolous, but honestly, this is so key to this work. This is spiritual work. The microdosing is going to again help reinforce those pathways of pleasure, and it's going to do wonders for your nervous system. So you want to get really good at uh bliss on tap. You want to get really good at being able to put yourself in a state of pleasure and you weave it in, you fold it in, and that's how you build power. We've had a lot of, again, conditioning, and there's a lot of fragmentation. And this runs us a lot. And this is the pattern disrupt I'm talking about. The fragmentation is like, yeah, pleasure over here, work over there, you know, like it's time to work. I don't have time to take a break. It's like that kind of thing, or sensuality, you know, when I'm in the bedroom or when I'm in this special situation, but not in my daily life when I'm at the grocery store. Take a moment, right, to feel your body, to just breathe. And it puts you in a deep state of gratitude over time. You get really good at it, right? It's a practice. And the fourth piece, this is optional, but extra credit if you if you take it on, is an evening practice. Again, super simple and embodiment, right? So I again I have a whole menu of practices, lots of them to choose from, depending on how your day went. You get to cherry pick. Ooh, what would feel really good before I settle into my evening meal. And how can I just like give myself five minutes? You know, five is sacred to Venus, five minutes of coming back home to my body. Alright, so now I want to guide you through one of my favorite Venusian meditations. It's called Toes in the Sand. So let's dive in. Welcome to this meditation, this activation of your goddess higher self. We find her through pleasure. So finding a comfortable seat, close your eyes, hand on your heart. I invite you to take a deep breath in through the nose. Exhale through your mouth with a deep sigh. And using the power of your imagination, imagining yourself at the beach, at the ocean on a beautiful, calm, warm day, toes in the sand. Feeling your toes, your feet alive, the texture of the sand. Noticing what you're hearing. The roar of the ocean, the cry of the seagulls. Noticing if there's a taste in your mouth. Feeling the sun on your skin, the breeze, the ocean mist. Noticing the scent of this experience. And breathing to receive. Truly receiving the scent in through the nose. Exhale through your mouth. As you begin to breathe in a tidal rhythm, like the ocean.

She is here, here to protect you, here to guide you.

SPEAKER_01

Here to invite you to surrender, to allow yourself to receive, to trust, to open. Relaxing into this light, into this radiance, into this love. And you remember why you've chosen to be here in this time and space. This is no mistake, no coincidence. Your essence, your magic, your love, your wisdom, your truth are what the world needs most right now. And the more you receive, the more you have to give. Steady inhale, steady exhale. Breathing to receive. When you unlock your love, your life becomes an expression of universal love. You are an artist of love, and your life is a masterpiece. Take a deep breath in. So the feminine cannot be hacked. Trust me on that one, but pleasure is the portal into your most noble qualities. It's through pleasure that you remember that you're an artist of love, here to create, here to love, here to shine. And when you get your toes in the sand, it puts your hands in the clay. And this Venusian path, it's not about becoming someone else. It's about remembering who you were before the world taught you to abandon yourself. It's the initiation we never received, and the initiation we didn't even know we needed. And here we unfold slowly, gently, relationally, one breath, one small ritual at a time. Thank you, my love, for joining me in today's episode. And if something true stirred within you, that's the wisdom of your feminine speaking. Lean into that. Trust that. And until next time, soften, breathe, and let love leads, but we don't have to.
