For years we've been told that resilience is the answer.

Build resilience.

Become stronger.

Bounce back.

And while resilience has served us beautifully, what if it was never meant to be the destination?

In this deeply personal episode, I share the philosophy that has quietly been weaving itself through my work for years—a way of living I now call The Venusian Revolution.

This isn't about rejecting resilience.

It's about discovering what resilience has been preparing us for.

A life that is not only healed...

But fully alive.

Together we'll explore the movement from fixing to remembering, from striving to relationship, and from simply surviving to becoming exquisitely available to life itself.

Because healing is part of the journey.

But aliveness is the destination.

✨ In this episode, we explore:

🌹 Why resilience may be the foundation—not the destination

🌹 The deeper meaning of radiance and why radiance is nourishment made visible

🌹 The shift from asking "How do I fix myself?" to "What would help me become more fully alive?"

🌹 Why the revolution isn't the practices...it's the relationship

🌹 The forgotten wisdom of ancient Goddess cultures and what they understood about beauty, pleasure, and the sacred body

🌹 Why desire and longing isn't something to overcome—but a sacred compass pointing us back toward ourselves

🌹 How becoming exquisitely available to life changes everything

These are no ordinary times. And you, my friend, are no ordinary woman. The feminine is rising. And a new way of being human is emerging on the planet. It's time for a return to the body. Where truth lives, pleasure flows, and love leads the way. Hello, beautiful soul, and welcome to the Vital Goddess Podcast. This is a space for what I call the Venusian Revolution, a return to the body, where truth lives, pleasure flows, and love leads the way. Here we explore what it means to live as a woman who is rooted in her truth, guided by her pleasure, and led by love. And for many women, midlife becomes a powerful threshold for this journey. A moment when something deeper begins to call her forward. The path of the feminine is rooted in the temple of the body. Here we root to rise. Embodiment is the reclamation. Welcome to the Venusian Revolution. I'm your host, Diane Shepard, and I'm so glad you're here. Well, hey there, beautiful, and welcome to the Vital Goddess Podcast. If you've been around in my world for a while and you're tuning in again, welcome back. It is always such a joy to have you here. And if you're brand new, maybe you just stumbled upon the show and you're tuning in for the very first time. Well, I'm thrilled you're here, and I hope you find something here that truly supports you. So here I am with my matcha latte on the rocks on this beautiful summer afternoon. It's high summer here in upstate New York. And settling in, just settling into having this conversation with you today about what I like to call the Venusian Revolution. So the phrase Venusian Revolution, this has been with me for quite some time, most likely my whole life, really, but it's kind of been in the background for a lot of my life. But just over the past few years, about three or four years, really, it's been weaving itself more strongly into my world, into my work, into my soul, you could say, and into so many conversations that I've been having over the past few years. So today I'd love to share a little bit more with you about what I mean by the term Venusian revolution. Because I've come to realize that this journey isn't only about healing anymore. Healing is definitely a part of the journey, but it isn't the destination. It's about remembering what truly makes us come alive. And a movement from resilience into radiance. And this phrase and this philosophy, really, the Venusian Revolution, wasn't something that I sat down to brainstorm or something that I invented from my logical mind, it's something that felt remembered through my body, through my own feminine embodiment practice. Now, if you do have a practice of feminine embodiments or any kind of sacred sensual embodiment practice or sacred sexuality practice of any kind, you know exactly what I'm talking about, right? From your practice emerges this other kind of knowing, this wisdom, your body's intelligence. I like to call this your BI, and there's no mistaking it. These truths just start coming through. You could say they're like sutras in a way, if you're a yogi and familiar with that term. Venusian sutras, if you will, start to come in these messages or truths that were meant specifically for you. And that's the power of embodiment. You yeah, you tap into this whole other way of knowing, way of being. So, this evolution of the Venusian revolution started to come in more strongly over the past few years in my own practice and also in the experiences that I'm blessed to have in guiding other women in these practices of sensual embodiment and inviting them home into their bodies and into their pleasure. But this is something that's always been in the background, kind of like a whisper, the Venusian Revolution. This kind of quiet knowing that, like I knew it was Venusian in nature, what I was here to teach, what I was here to do. And it became again more clear over the past few years. And now it's definitely in the forefront of what I teach and share in the world, my contribution. And over time, what started as that whisper really became impossible to ignore. Maybe you've had similar experiences. When you know something's true, it's kind of in the background. It gets louder and louder and uh more prominent, and you get signals and messages from other people and experiences. So, anyway, here we are. Um, and the more I tuned in, the more I listened, the more clarity um came into being, the more things downloaded. And um, I just got more and more like information, but not in the logical sense of what this wanted to be. And that's the way it works when you're in that realm, right? And again, this is why I say too, it's it's not just about healing anymore. It's not just about healing something broken anymore, it's really about remembering what truly makes us come alive. This is a big part of the message that's been coming through. This is a revolution, the Venusian revolution, of how we relate to life itself. And it's a forgotten or mostly forgotten way of being in the world that we're starting to remember. That we're starting to remember through embodiments, which is super exciting. And while the practices and tools that I teach um and that I've you know spent the last 20 some odd years collecting and curating, they're beautiful. These practices and tools are beautiful, some of them ancient, they're powerful and incredibly effective. But but the way we engage with them is everything. The revolution isn't the practices themselves, the revolution is the relationship because we can approach the body as another project, something to fix or optimize, or we can enter into relationship with her and we can practice any practice, whether it's breath work, movement, breast massage, jade egg, from a place of striving, fixing, or we can practice from a place of beauty and devotion. We can use these practices to become someone else, like using them in more of a performative way, or we can allow these practices to help us unfold, to help us remember. And to me, that truly is the heart of the Venusian Revolution. It's a remembrance. So over the years, I've realized something that I've always been a bit of a rebel, to be honest. I even way before I knew anything about Venus, goddess cultures, sacred sexuality, sacred sensuality and pleasure, I was definitely a bit of a rebel. And when I was younger, especially as a young woman, as a teen, through my 20s, through my 30s, there was a part of me that really wanted to just burn it all down, wanted to burn down the patriarchy. And I was pretty fired up. I'm sure you know how that feels. And, you know, the more I learned about patriarchy and what really went down, I could just see that, you know, so much wasn't working in our favor, that so much harm had been done. And yeah, I wanted to burn it down, smash the patriarchy. And not only that, like all the harm that was done, all the suffering, there's also this constant pressure and striving that was put on women. And also the way that so many of us, or many of us, maybe all of us, have been conditioned, deeply conditioned and trained to disconnect from this incredible wisdom that lives within our bodies. So yeah, I was like, let's burn this down, you know? And so I really deeply understand that impulse. But somewhere along the way, little by little, again, through my practice, it didn't happen overnight, something else started to shift and emerge. And I started to realize that I'm actually not here to burn it down. I'm not here to burn down the old paradigm. I'm actually here to help remember another way, to help usher in an old way of being actually an old way remastered, I guess you could say. I'm here to help cultivate with other women another way. So now, years later, at age 63, I find myself no longer interested in burning it down. What my heart is telling me that, yeah, we don't need to burn it down. My heart is saying, I'm choosing another way. Who wants to come with me? And that's what I mean by the Venusian revolution. So for the past decade or so, we've been told that resilience is the answer. And that totally makes sense, right? Build resilience, become more resilient so we can bounce back. And there is just so much going on in the world, and there still is, that requires us to build resiliency. And that really makes sense. Building resiliency has served us beautifully. But I'm starting to wonder, I'm starting to really feel into this and live into this. Perhaps resilience is not the destination. I'm starting to really wonder if resilience has been preparing us for something else, like laying the foundation for something bigger, much bigger than we anticipated. Because I don't feel that we came here just to survive and to do damage control and you know, pull ourselves together and get back to work. I believe that we came here to truly shine, to become fully and radiantly alive, like spirit into matter, heaven down to earth, you could even say. And the word radiance keeps coming up. And what do I mean by radiance? Well, from my perspective, radiance is nourishment made visible. It's the essence of divine love humming in our cells. And radiance to me is sacred. It's life expressing itself through a woman who has become, who has chosen to become, exquisitely available to receive it. It's so much about receiving. The Venusian revolution begins the moment a woman stops asking, How do I fix myself? And she begins asking, What would help me become more fully alive? And that single shift changes everything. Fixing assumes that something is wrong or broken. Whereas aliveness trusts that something beautiful is waiting to emerge. Can you feel the magic in that? It's an entirely different atmosphere. The resilience path asks us to optimize. The Venusian path asks us to cultivate relationship. The old way prizes endurance, but the Venusian path nourishes vitality. The old way rewards performance and achievement, nothing wrong with those. But the Venusian path restores true feminine presence. The old ways become stronger, tougher, endure, but the Venusian path whispers, become more fully alive. And life responds differently to a woman who is fully alive. So for thousands of years in ancient goddess cultures, there were truths woven into everyday life that the body was sacred, that beauty was sacred, and that it mattered, that pleasure was sacred and far from frivolous, that it was medicine, and that the earth wasn't separate from spirit. The feminine wasn't an accessory to life. She was the way that life actually regenerates and expresses itself. And somewhere along the way, those truths became hidden, dismissed, labeled taboo, forgotten, almost forgotten. We forgot that beauty nourishes. We forgot that pleasure restores. We forgot that the body is sacred. And we forgot that life was meant to be received, not conquered. The Venusian Revolution isn't creating something new, it's a remembering of what was never meant to be lost. Venus is calling, she wants her crown back, and perhaps she's calling you specifically through your own longing to feel more alive, that desire for more. And this isn't resilience versus radiance. Just like yin doesn't reject yang, radiance isn't the opposite of resilience. It's the soil from which resilience naturally grows. It includes it, nourishes it, makes it stronger. As one of my teachers once said, your radiance is your best protection. So the women drawn to this work, and I'm sure you're one of them, already have a life, a beautiful life, although I'm pretty sure somewhat complicated life, but a very full life. And I don't believe what those women are longing for is more to do, more to put on that to-do list. I feel that the women who are drawn to this work are longing to feel more alive inside the life that they've already created. And that longing is sacred. That desire, it isn't something to overcome or optimize or fix. It's a longing for a deeper experience of being alive, a remembrance. And ancient goddess civilizations had sacred places devoted to that remembrance and to remembering places where women gathered, where beauty was honored, where life slowed, where a woman's desire wasn't a problem to solve, it wasn't too much. It was considered to be a sacred compass, pointing her back to herself, back on her path, into alignment, back towards the deep nourishment her body had always been seeking. That longing, that desire for more is the main reason why I created the vital goddess mastery temple. It's not simply a course, but a living sanctuary devoted to the Venusian arts, a Venus temple, a place where beauty nourishes, where pleasure is honored as sacred, where your body is remembered as sacred, and where you can return again and again and again, because this is a continuum. And radiance isn't something we accomplish in a weekend. It's a rhythm, it's a way of being, a way of living, a spiral of remembering. Resilience keeps us alive, keeps us surviving to face another day, whereas radiance reminds us why we're alive. We were born to feel fully alive. And if you've been listening today and you're feeling what I like to call that embodied yes, perhaps there's a sensation in your body, a zing, a tingle, goosebumps, a warmth. I often describe it as champagne bubbles in my heart and in my breasts. That's my embodied yes. Maybe you're feeling that in your body, and we're so trained to override that, ignore that, shut it down. But if you're feeling that, I want you to honor that, to trust that. And if you are experiencing that embodied yes, I have a feeling that we're kindred spirits, and I would love to invite you into this Venusian space. Our Venusian summer tuition is currently 30% off. And because this temple is designed to support you lifelong, it's a lifelong sanctuary, you get lifelong access to the curriculum, all the replays, etc., all of my teachings in one space, our private community, and our live weekly temple sessions on Zoom throughout each semester, which are amazing.
